WHO WE ARE

My name is Blake Mullins - and I am the owner and primary technician behind DAYWATCH! I've been in the pool industry for most of my life in various capacities - whether that's as an Aquatics Instructor for 7 years, Manager of a local swim school or as the Operations Manager of a Weekly Service Department - so you can imagine how much I love the water!I take pride in my dedication to my craft and strive to only deliver remarkable, thoughtful and memorable services to my clients! Through this business, I hope to share this passion with you and your family. My lovely wife Abigale and I have two Mini Australian Shepherds - Bowie (the big one, 7) and Nina (the less big one, 3)! You might see them in the truck hanging out in the AC while I clean your pool. When your dogs come up to see me during our weekly visits, just know that they're absolutely making my puppers very jealous when I get back home for the day!I also own and operate a Graphic Design & Merchandising business called WYNN CON MERCHANDISING! I specialize in designing logos, assets for streaming and digital advertisements, as well as branded garments of all shapes and sizes! I created the logo for Daywatch, as well as designed my own t-shirts and other business garments. If you have any design needs I can assist with, feel free to let me know! I'd be more than happy to provide those services to you, as well. And that's me! I enjoy connecting with my clients, so feel free to chat with me while I'm working poolside and we can get into it!Looking forward to meeting you! 👋

LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR OWN POOL OWNERSHIP EXPERIENCE:

As your pool guy, I’d like to know as much as possible about your pool ownership experience so far. I’ve created a Beginner-Friendly Form for you to fill out so I can get a better idea of how to best serve you and your backyard to the industry’s highest standard!

This form should take you only a few minutes to completely fill out, and you don’t need to provide any payment information or commit to any services. In my professional experience, no pool has ever really been the same. Learning how your system functions natively dictates a lot of how to keep your pool up and running, but your own usage habits and expectations shape exactly how Daywatch is best meant to serve your own, unique pool ownership experience!

New and existing clients alike, please take a look and complete the form by clicking the link or image below:

FAQs

There is a lot that goes into pool ownership. While I’m unable to provide you with my accumulated library of pool knowledge at your fingertips, I am willing to provide you with a few pieces of insight and maybe guide you in the right direction for most of your common pool care questions!

  • GENERAL POOL OWNERSHIP

  • MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE

  • SYSTEM ISSUES & LEAKS

  • DIY OPTIONS

Please check through these entries before reaching out about specific issues!

GENERAL POOL OWNERSHIP

Q: HOW OFTEN DO I NEED PROFESSIONAL MAINTENANCE?

A: Generally once a week, but sometimes twice a week for certain pool ownership experiences.

I would say that every pool I’ve ever maintained has required attentive weekly maintenance. I would also say that the vast majority of pool owners don’t know a majority of what goes into learning about their pool, their pump system or troubleshooting chemical issues without serious guidance.Rather than learning alone through the frustrating and generally unforgiving trials and tribulations that pool ownership can bring, hiring a professional takes those woes away and provides you with a professional team at your fingertips to give you peace of mind and a plan for every situation.

Q: DO I NEED TO BE HOME DURING SERVICES?

A: Nope!

You are not required to be present for any of our scheduled services. We may have additional details for you once services are completed, but I don’t believe bombarding you with notifications or small-talk updates are completely necessary for a lot of what we do. I want you to feel taken care of no matter what!

Q: DO I STILL NEED TO CHECK MY POOL BETWEEN VISITS?

A: YES!

Our routine maintenance visits basically provide you with treatments and preventative maintenance for the week to come, plus a review of the previous week’s chemical changes, comings and goings, but we unfortunately aren’t available every day to keep things perfectly smooth around the clock. This is why I try my best to keep myself available via text to troubleshoot any concerns you may have over the other 6 days of the week! I’m more than happy to chat and discuss gameplans with my clients. Please check your pool during the week for any changes in water quality, water level or mechanical malfunctioning. Reaching out to us sooner rather than later ensures that we can get services scheduled and gameplan solving any and all pool emergencies you might face!If you need to report any of these issues, please give me a call or text message at 317-731-3483.If you have mechanical issues and cannot reach me, you can also contact Daniel Brodrick of Glacial Waters Pools at (317) 709-6332.

Q: WHAT IF I HAVE A POOL AND SPA?

A: I can provide you with routine maintenance for both!

We offer combined care packages for pools with attached or standalone spas, ensuring both stay clean and balanced to our highest standards!Send me a message or give me a call if you are interested in purchasing a spa, setting one up for services, or if you’d like additional mechanical support for your spa or hot tub!

MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE

Q: I HAVE A SALT POOL - WHEN DO I NEED TO ADD MORE SALT?

A: We’ve got you covered! Salt is included in your routine pool care purchase!

I could go on and on about the differences between chlorine and salt swimming pools. However, you shouldn’t have to worry about those finer details! I want to make sure you are covered with your sanitizer options whether that is weekly applications of chlorine tablets or keeping you stocked with dissolvable pool salt. All swimming pools vary with their salt needs. Usage, chemical balancing and preference play a role in determining when to add salt and how much, so leave that up to the professionals! I will keep your salt levels in pristine shape for your pool ownership experience.

Q: DO I NEED TO SCHEDULE SERVICE ON MY SALT CELL? SAND FILTER? CARTRIDGE FILTER? AUTOMATIC COVER? etc.

A: Has it been a while? Maybe! Trust us to keep track of your equipment maintenance schedule!

There are lots of moving pieces for every swimming pool. While we would hope this equipment lasts a lifetime, the truth is that they require very specific, professional upkeep to maintain a level of performance that doesn’t wear on everything else in your system!I keep a running record of all maintenance performed on my clients’ pools. This includes services performed by myself and Daniel over at Glacial Waters Pool Services, in addition to those contracted out to other companies in the area. My goal as your pool guy is to make sure that you don’t have to wonder if this-that-and-the-other needs serviced - I will let you know when each time comes, and we’ll get it scheduled and on the books!Don’t try to keep up with all of this stuff alone. Hire a professional to perform your routine maintenance and keep an eye out for any potential needs your pool might have!To schedule any of these services, please message me!

Q: OUR POOL GETS SO DIRTY IN BETWEEN WEEKLY VISITS!

A: We’ve got answers and you’ve got options!

You might need one of the following solutions:

  • SCHEDULE AN AUTOMATIC COVER BOX CLEANING WITH US

  • PURCHASE A ROBOTIC CLEANER AND SET IT UP TO RUN CONSTANTLY

  • SCHEDULE AN ADDITIONAL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE VISIT EACH WEEK

The truth of the matter is that even an automatic pool cover isn’t enough to stop dirt and debris from making their way into your swimming pool. Debris that sits on top of your cover will roll into the cover box each time you open the pool cover itself. This is also the same way that debris rolls up and sticks itself to the bottom of your wet pool cover, then finds its way back into your pool the next time you close it!What I recommend to most of my clients is that they also purchase a robotic cleaner that they can set up to run during the week when I am not around. Of course, a robotic cleaner can’t perform chemical maintenance on the fly or troubleshoot issues with your equipment, but it can absolutely sweep up those pesky messes! Keep the box, keep the manual, keep your warranty information - you’ll thank me later! Let me know if you need a recommendation on a robotic cleaner that is affordable and user-friendly.Lastly, you have the option to receive routine weekly maintenance twice a week! Some pools should receive services at this frequency regardless, but I would be more than happy to book a second visit a few days out from your first each week to provide you with updated chemical treatments, additional cleanings as needed and more attentive monitoring! Send me a message and we can set these services up and discuss pricing and availability. If you are interested in getting on the books for a service visit or purchasing a robotic cleaner, please reach out!

Q: THERE ARE A BUNCH OF UNDISSOLVED CHEMICALS AT THE BOTTOM OF MY POOL!

A: The short answer is that there could be several things involved, so let’s troubleshoot that!

This could be a number of things, but if it appears after your weekly routine visit, there is a chance that we’ve received faulty chemicals. Unfortunately, this can happen and we won’t know the chemicals are bad until it’s too late. These clumps of chemicals can still bind to bacterias if they show up and create larger issues when the chemicals cloud up when disturbed by swimmers, brushed or vacuumed. If you see this issue following one of your routine weekly visits, please let me know immediately! If allowed to cloud up your pool, we would need to schedule a Flocculent Treatment to floc the pool and use an inline suction vacuum to clear the debris once they clump together at the bottom again.

SYSTEM ISSUES & LEAKS

Q: I BELIEVE I MIGHT HAVE A LEAK! DO YOU DO LEAK DETECTION SERVICES?

A: Yes! And we would be happy to troubleshoot this for you!

I’ve seen a lot of different issues lead to leaks in pools over the years. While we monitor your pool water levels each week and let you know when to add water, we highly recommend keeping an eye on the water level yourself and report any concerns or issues you might have!We perform leak detection dives in addition to other troubleshooting services to check for leaks at your equipment pad, plumbing, steps or your liner. Repair services will need to be scheduled through a different company in most cases, though I would be more than happy to apply liner patches or schedule maintenance for you through our mechanical maintenance partners! If you need additional services pertaining to leaks, please send us a message.

DIY OPTIONS

Q: I CAN’T AFFORD WEEKLY PROFESSIONAL MAINTENANCE RIGHT NOW - WHAT DO I DO?

A: Lucky for you, you’ve still got a pool guy!

Here’s the thing: not everyone can afford the ideal solution for their pool ownership experience. Professional care is without a doubt essential, in my opinion, when it comes to owning an inground pool in Central Indiana. If not for the litany of issues that come with our homes and daily lives, but also the peace of mind you get when you book professional visits to just enjoy your investment in a backyard oasis without the hassle of learning an entirely new craft. However, I understand that our service plan isn’t right for all buyers in the market. While I pride myself on maintaining the lowest price in our area with all-inclusive chemical services on top of cleaning and access to mechanical services without the ridiculous wait times of other local chains, you might have more DIY plans for your pool ownership experience.I offer Pool School services geared towards your individual pool, where I come out and dissect your pool system, take notes and make observations while you fill me in on your pool ownership experience thus far. Then, once I’ve had time to collect my thoughts, I will set up a follow-up with you and any interested home-grown pool techs in training to go over what I think works best for your pool and your schedule to maintain the best maintenance routine possible!

Bookings for Pool Schools are available upon request. I request that you fully complete the form found below before we put anything on the calendar:

Please keep in mind that I am just one guy! While I will gladly provide you with troubleshooting and advice when available, I do prioritize my routine maintenance clients over Pool School attendees during the busier parts of the regular pool season! Thank you for your understanding!

Please send me a message if you would like me to answer any of your additional concerns. I will respond to messages in the order I receive them - thank you so much!
